Incident Report – March 2022

  • 03/03/2022 20:06 pm – Calaza Street

A client came to report that he had been robbed whilst opening the gate to his residence. He was overwhelmed and the robbers took his house and gate keys and cell phone. He had come to ask for the spare keys that Protek holds but as they were old keys there were of no use. It is important to update spare key holders when changing your locks. Our supervisor accompanied the client to report the incident at SAPS and we posted a guard overnight in case the robbers returned.

 

  • 03/03/2022 am – Madeira Street

A business client called to report that one of the managers had opened the business that morning and disappeared with all the cash from the safe. SAPS were informed and the Protek response team were dispatched to accompany a staff member in search of him.

 

  • 05/03/2022 14:16 pm – Corana

Response reacted to panic signals from a business. On arrival they were informed that one of their off-duty truck drivers had taken a truck by force, apparently while under the influence. The vehicle was later found abandoned on the side of the road and the client chose not to open a case.

 

  • 05/03/2022 16:35 pm – Textile Street

The Protek team responded to an unauthorised opening at a business and on arrival the client confirmed a positive break in. The intruders had forced the gate padlock and broken into a parked truck and stolen parts.

 

  • 07/03/2022 13:15 pm – Ngebs Mall

An outside security company reported a panic signal from a retail store. The response team were dispatched and on arrival they were informed that a customer had forcibly taken a TV claiming that he had bought one at the store but it did not work. SAPS were called and the matter was handed over to them.

 

  • 11/03/2022 06:36 am – Mbuqe Park

Response attended a call for assistance from a residence where the client reported that a potential intruder had opened a window but had run away when the client shouted at them.

 

  • 12/03/2022 22:13 pm – Sprigg Street

The Protek team responded to a panic signal from a garage shop. On arrival it was reported that 2 armed suspects had demanded cash from the tills and had fled with around R 400.00

 

  • 13/03/2022 02:01 am – Viedgesville

After receiving an alarm activation, control called security at a school and they confirmed a positive break in. Intruders had broken into a store room and attempted to hide in the ceiling. We called SAPS to respond and they confirmed nothing had been taken.

 

  • 16/03/2022 10:36 am -Ngebs Mall

An outside security company called Protek for backup as there was a bakkie with 2 armed men robbing a truck. The suspects took the truck battery and the driver’s belongings before fleeing.

 

  • 16/03/2022 23:47 pm – Owen Dam

Students were fighting at a petrol station and when the attendant tried to stop them, he was beaten up. SAPS attended and took the injured attendant to hospital.

 

  • 17/03/2022 01:23 am – Cala

After receiving alarm signals, control called the client at their funeral home and they confirmed a suspect was attempting to break in. The suspect had broken the door but not gained access.

 

  • 17/03/2022 04:08 am – Ngangelizwe

A guard at a school called after spotting a suspect exiting a classroom. Response arrived and the guard confirmed the suspect had stolen a light bulb.

 

  • 20/03/2022 09:02 am – Ntlaza

A client at a school was called after we received an unauthorized opening signal. The client confirmed there had been a break in to the yard the previous evening when the fence was cut and a water tank was stolen. As there is no outdoor protection at the site, we did not receive an alarm activation at the time of the incident.

 

  • 20/03/2022 10:26 am – Nelson Mandela Drive

The Protek response team responded to an alarm activation at a wholesaler. On arrival the security guard informed them that 6 armed men driving a bakkie with no registration had parked in front of the shop. One of the suspects forced all the staff to the back of the shop and held them hostage. The suspects loaded boxes of alcohol into the bakkie and fled.

 

  • 21/03/2022 20:56 pm – Progress Street

Our response officer was surveying a business premises when he noticed a broken door at the neighbouring premises. We called the client and posted a guard there for the night. No loss was reported.

 

  • 22/03/2022 01:09 am – Libode

We received an alarm activation from a wholesaler and called the client who initially said all was fine. The client then called back stating that people were attempting to break and that SAPS did not have an available vehicle. The Protek response team were dispatched and reported that only the padlocks had been breached.

 

  • 22/03/2022 01:14 am – Libode

Control received an alarm activation from an office and called the client who was unavailable. Fortunately, our response team were in Libode on a separate call and went to investigate and confirmed a positive break in. SAPS were asked to patrol.

 

  • 24/03/2022 10:31 am – Qokolweni

A client was robbed outside his shop whilst leaving to buy stock. It was reported that 3 armed men shot his vehicle tyres causing it to stop where after they stole cash and a cell phone before fleeing.

 

  • 24/03/2022 14:10 pm – Ikwezi Township

The Protek response team responded to a panic signal from a centre and on arrival were informed that 5 armed men had threatened the guards and office staff, demanding the keys to the safe which they proceeded to empty of cash. No injuries were reported.

 

  • 26/03/2022 08:35 am – Circus Triangle

Client called to report a positive break in at a clinic. The front and back doors were broken and the solar system stolen. The alarm had been activated but response were unable to access the container yard as there was answer from any of the key holders.

 

  • 27/03/2022 22:10am – King Edward Road

Response responded to panic signals from a store. On arrival they were informed that a bakkie had come into the yard chased by another vehicle that was shooting at it. All the occupants were shot dead and SAPS were called.

 

  • 27/03/2022 00:57 am – Flagstaff

Signals were received from a hotel and our control room called the client’s guard. When the manager arrived, he saw suspects with a grinder, he shot at the suspects and one returned fire injuring one of the guards. They ran to the nearest garage to call an ambulance. When SAPS arrived, it was discovered the suspects had stolen approximately R1,000.00.

 

  • 28/03/2022 11:07 – Waterfall Park

Client called reporting a break in at a school. Intruders broke the window and stole snacks, the alarm was damaged.

 

  • 29/003/2022 13:34 pm – Basil Reed Park homes

The Protek team responded to an alarm activation and discovered a positive break in at a residence. The client arrived and confirmed that wines, tools and a television had been stolen. The suspects had cut the fence and wooden wall to gain access. Tenants at the back of the property said they had seen 3 boys on the premises but had not reacted. The suspects left behind their cell phone and a hat.
