Protek Incident Report – June 2022
- 01/06/22 08:00am – Kalika Street
A business client reported a break in and response were dispatched. They confirmed that intruders had gained access after breaking a side window. The guard informed them that armed suspects had opened the safe with a grinder and stolen cash after damaging the alarm.
- 01/06/22 16:00pm – Ikwezi Extension
A client who was on holiday was informed of a break in at her residence by her neighbour. The response team confirmed that the front window was open.
- 01/06/22 19:45pm – Myezo Park
An outside security company reported a robbery in progress at a fuel station. The Protek team were dispatched and on arrival informed that an armed man had threatened the cashier and stolen cash from the till.
- 05/06/22 10:48am – Lowry Street
Control received an alarm activation from a business and dispatched the response team who discovered the back window had been broken but the alarm had deterred the intruder from entering the premises.
- 06/06/22 00:47am – Cumberland Street
A client called for armed response and on arrival the team were informed that a vehicle had been stolen from their residence. SAPS were in attendance.
- 07/06/22 18:10pm – Cnr Nelson Mandela & Madeira Streets
Panic signals were received from a business where 4 armed men had taken cash and liquor.
- 07/06/22 19:08pm – Owen Street
Panic signals were received from a business where it was reported that a group of armed men had taken cash and liquor.
- 08/06/22 01:08am – Fortgale
An attendant at a fuel station prevented a customer from driving off without paying after filling up their vehicle. The vehicle was impounded until the fuel was paid for.
- 08/06/22 14:26pm – Illanga Ridge
The response team reacted to an alarm activation from a residence where they discovered the front security gate and door had been forced open and a television stolen.
- 08/06/22 14:26pm – Fernhill North
On response to a panic signal from a residence, the team were informed that 2 suspects claiming to be from a security company had stolen a television at gun point.
- 09/06/22 06:30am – Intsasa Street
An alarm activation was received from a residence where the Protek team discovered that an intruder had removed a window from the back flat, entered and found the door key. The client confirmed that a laptop, television, speakers and a cell phone had been stolen. There was no alarm protection in the flat.
- 13/06/2200:58am – Ikwezi Extension
Panic signals were received from a fuel station and all vehicles were dispatched. The first team to arrive were shot at by the intruders and SAPS were alerted. 10 armed men had robbed the shop of cash and stock and escaped in a bakkie.
- 20/06/22 04:03am – Mbuqe Park
Control contacted a client after receiving an alarm activation from their residence. The client said they would check and then called back requesting a response team and SAPS. It was reported that an intruder had been found in the house and shot dead by the client.
- 21/06/22 08:24am – Sprigg Street
Response reacted to a panic signal from a hardware store and were informed the business had been robbed the previous evening. It was reported that cash and cell phones had been stolen.
- 21/06/22 18:11pm – Sprigg Street
A client called to report a robbery at a pharmacy where the response supervisor viewed the CCTV footage and confirmed that 6 armed men had held up the staff and made off with cash, cell phones and stock.
- 25/16/22 23:020pm – Nelson Mandela Drive
The Protek response team responded to panic signals from a business where they were informed that 4 armed men had stolen cash from the tills.
- 25/06/22 23:19pm – Sprigg Street
A customer was shot inside a store and his vehicle was stolen. SAPS and EMS were alerted.
- 29/06/22 – Owen Dam Myezo
All teams were dispatched to a fuel station after receiving panic signals and a call from the client reporting an armed robbery in progress. On approach, gun shots were heard and SAPS were contacted for back up. One armed man entered the shop demanding cash and the onsite guard exchanged fire with the other suspects. The guard and one of the suspects were shot dead with the rest of the suspects fleeing with cash and cigarettes.
- 30-06-22 01:42am – Nepgen
The response team reacted to a panic signal from a residence and on arrival the client confirmed a break in through an open side window. A laptop, clothes and study material were stolen and the intruders left behind their tools and a jacket.
- 30/06/22 05:52am – Southridge Park
The Protek team responded to panic signals from a B&B and were informed that a guest’s truck loaded with batteries had been stolen with the suspects having put the gate on to manual.
The team recovered the truck nearby but the load had been removed. SAPS were alerted.
