Protek Incident Report January 2023
- 01/01/2023 18:00 pm – Cnr Bridge & Harrow Streets
An outside security company reported a panic signal from a supermarket and the response team were dispatched. An armed suspect had entered the store and instructed the manager to open the office before fleeing with cash.
- 02/01/2023 02:58 am – Mqanduli
Panic signals were received from a warehouse and the key holder was contacted. Via the cameras he reported seeing a suspect in the building. We informed SAPS and a local security team whilst dispatching our own team. The intruders had broken a wall, stolen alcohol and an empty safe.
- 02/01/2023 Mbuqe Park
Panic signals were received from a primary school and response were met by a guard who informed them that intruders had bent the bars and broken a window into the pre-school. The Principal said he would check in the morning.
- 05/01/2023 22:43 pm – Ikwezi Extension
A client called to report a break in at her residence. The intruders had turned off the electricity before breaking both the front and back doors and stealing her electrical appliances.
- 06/01/2023 00:22am – Bridge Street
An outside security company reported a break in that was in progress at a clothing store. The Protek team were dispatched and SAPS were informed. They met with the keyholder who opened and confirmed that intruders had entered and exited the building via the roof, damaging the cameras and alarm before stealing cell phones and clothing.
- 09/01/2023 10:02am – Vulindlela Heights
A client called to report stock was being stolen from a plumbing supply shop. Stock was missing from a store room and it looked like it had been occurring for a while. Some stock was recovered from behind the store room.
- 10/01/2023 08:38am – Ncambedlana
Intruders broke into student accommodation and stole tv’s and microwaves. No signals were received – there is only a panic button on site.
- 11/01/2023 13:13pm – Corner bridge & Harrow Streets
Two armed men confronted a guard at a supermarket and emptied the cash from a till before fleeing.
- 11/01/2023 18:00pm – Market
A civilian was shot during an armed robbery, SAPS and EMS were called.
- 13/01/2023 18:00pm – Nelson Mandela Drive
Response were dispatched after a panic signal was received from a warehouse. On arrival they were informed armed suspects had threatened the staff but a guard had pressed the panic and closed the shutter door causing the suspects to flee.
- 14/01/2023 01:49am – Mbuqe Park
A security guard at a primary school was held up by intruders who stole a cell phone and gun. SAPS asked us to take the guard to the police station to open a case.
- 15/01/2023 17:43pm – Fort Gale
Panic signals were received from a liquor supplier and the Protek team were dispatched. A suspect had pretended to be purchasing a lot of expensive alcohol for a shebeen. At the till the cashier asked for his ID and he supposedly went outside to get it but instead returned with armed men who stole the order. SAPS were informed.
- 18/01/2023 03:06am – Lurasini
A client called to report that 4 armed men had disarmed the guards at a filling station and bottle store. They made off with cash, cigarettes and alcohol.
- 19/01/2023 08:38am – Madeira Street
An outside security company reported a positive burglary at a clothing store. Intruders had entered and exited through the roof and stolen cell phones and clothing.
- 20/01/2023 13:31pm – Vulindlela Heights
A guard foiled an armed robbery at a meat supplier when he spotted one of the suspects had a gun. He managed to disarm one of the men while the other ran away. SAPS were called.
- 22/01/2023 10:42am – Mdlekeza Park
Response reacted to an alarm activation at a residence and discovered a window broken with the bars having been removed. The clients were called who said they were out of town, Protek patrolled until they returned.
- 25/01/2023 12:48pm – Sutherland Street
The Protek team confirmed an attempted armed robbery after receiving a panic signal from a wholesaler. A cash in transit vehicle was shot at with one guard being hit, fortunately not fatally.
The suspects failed to access the money.
- 27/01/2023 07:00am – Southernwood
A client reported their car had been stolen from their residence during the night. The vehicle was later found dumped near Ngangelizwe.
- 28/01/2023 19:21pm – Libode
Panic signals were received from a fuel station and when the keyholder was contacted he confirmed that money had been taken from the till.
- 30/01/2023 07:36am – Sprigg Street
A positive burglary was reported at a business which had been discovered when they opened for the day. As the building is undergoing renovations, nothing was stolen.
